Natural rubber prices have risen above $3,000 a metric ton for the first time in 15 months and one company, Tong Thai Nabon, has sold 600 tons at $3,020/ton, free on board for January shipment, a trading executive said Thursday.
"Buyers are looking for even larger volumes of a few thousand tons but exporters can't afford to sell big quantities," said the executive.
Traders said since prices are rising and availability is limited, they are offering cargoes of a few hundred tons each.
