[03 Feb] Armenia Cuts Production of Chloroprene Rubber in 2009

Nairit Plant CJSC, the only producer of chloroprene rubber in Armenia, cut production in 2009 by 64% to 1949 tons versus 5414 tons in 2008, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.

The specialists of the company say the production fell because of the failure on May 14 2009. The plant was suspended for repair on June 12 and was reactivated only on October 20 2009.

To recall, in December 2006 the Government of Armenia signed a contract on sale of the 90pct stake in CJSC Nairit Plant for $40 million to Rhiniville property limited. The remaining 10pct stake in the company belongs to the Government. The Polish Samex, American Intertex and Russian Eurogas are the founders of Rhiniville property limited.
