Rise in spot rubber prices

On Wednesday (03 November 2010), the spot rubber prices continued to rose due to fresh buying and short covering. Domestic supply concerns and news on comparatively low production and arrivals due to unseasonal rains kept the buyers under pressure. Sheet rubber increased to Rs. 195.50 from Rs. 194.50 per kg.

The November futures for RSS 4 increased to Rs. 197.70 (196.57), December to Rs. 200.61 (199.38), January to Rs. 202.50 (201.72) and February to Rs. 204.99 (203.71) per kg on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 195.50 (194.50); RSS-5: 186 (185); ungraded: 183 (181.75); ISNR 20: 192 (190) and latex 60 per cent: 128 (126.50).
